Lay Missionaries of the MSC meet on the 1st Monday of every month from September to June. Approximately 10-15 members gather at Dostie Hall at 5:30 pm for a "pot luck" supper and the meeting.
The group's main purpose is not only to study spiritual and social writings but to do charitable works where needed. Among the Catholic and social writings they have researched is a history of the Founder of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, They have discussed and read about human trafficking and other social and spiritual writings. The three priests and two brothers offer spiritual guidance and interpretations .
The Lay Missionaries have collected medical supplies and clothing for a mission in Kingston, Jamaica and donated food to the Urban Mission. Numerous other charitable works have been performed by it's members and they are always ready to fill a "need".
Anyone can attend these meetings to decide if membership is for you. Upon joining, a yearly pledge is made at a ceremony in December after Mass. No dues are collected. If you are looking to learn more about your faith and grow in spirituality, the Lay Missionaries is the place for you. For further information or if you wish to attend, please call the office at 782-1474.
